Family Snap Shots

This is Lauren going for a ride on Misty, her 8 year old Pinto Pony. Lauren keeps telling us she wants to show cattle, so we got her this pony instead! Lauren has taken part in the local fairs, shows and a fun day a few roads over.  She also drives Misty with a small pony cart. Oh boy here we go!

This is my fathers team of Clydesdale horses, people have told us that they were the best team in this part of the township. My father (Stuart) won competitions in plowing, and could plow a straight furrow with either a tractor or a team!

This is my horse power, a John Deere 4430, and I don't even plow anymore! (it's all no-till) What is neat about these two pictures is that in both, the dog made it into the shot!  (we saw this after we had them developed) That is Jason on his favorite toy tractor, he now has his eye on his father's real John Deere 3020!
This is our daughter and her horse Kit. Maryjo is going to use Kit as her 4-H Horse Club project this year again.  She was Junior Champion in the Showmanship Class in 4-H Showmanship.  She also barrel races Kit.   She, like her mother has a real love of horses, Maryjo is out every night helping with all the horses chores.  Her  two favourite horse-related goals are to barrel race at the Calgary Stampede and to be able to train all her own horses.

This is Mickey, Jason's dog. Mickey goes everywhere that we go, he has become part of the family!

Here is our youngest daughter Lauren playing at the Canadian Open Fiddling Championship in Shelburne in August 2000. She finished third out of fifteen kids some of which came from Quebec! Lauren has been traveling around with her mother,  older sister and I to dances and fun days, playing for various events. Her mother and sister chord along with her, and I play the fiddle also. Her older brother Jason is also getting involved.  Lauren  has a wonderful talent, which she loves to share.  Lauren and Maryjo are also taking step dancing lessons.  Lauren's next act, will be step dancing and playing her fiddle at the same time!

This is a picture taken in Tavistock at the Southwestern Ontario Fiddle & Step-Dance Championships, in July of 2001.  Lauren won the 9 & Under Fiddle Class, playing a song called "The Old Man and The Old Woman."
